We welcome you to the Friends of Gladys Taber

NEW MEMBERS will receive all 4 issues of our Journals (formerly called "newsletters") of the year in which they join. In the Fall of that year, all members, both new and old, renew their membership for the FOLLOWING year. For instance, if you become a member during 2020, your 2021 dues will be due in the Fall of 2020, even though you joined during 2020. This means that during your first year, you will need to pay 2 sets of dues, for which you will be receiving 8 quarterly Journals over the 2-year period, all of 2020 and all of 2021. You will next pay dues during the following Fall 2021 for the year 2022.

What benefits do FOGT members receive?

  •  4 quarterly, 40-page Journal/newsletters; these are received by our members in their mailboxes in March, June, September and December.

  • An invitation to our annual national Reunion which is held in a town associated with Gladys Taber. We are often fortunate to have Gladys’ granddaughters and great-granddaughter host us at their Stillmeadow home. Stillmeadow is a family residence and we respect their privacy. Due to the danger posed by the terrible COVID-19 pandemic, we will wait to re-open our meetings until we are certain it will be safe to do so.

  • Invitations to join local, state and regional groups which meet more frequently; you may also arrange to visit these groups if you will be in their town on the day of their meeting. Local groups are open to all current members of the national FOGT. As mentioned above, these local meetings will re-open when it is deemed safe to do so.

Additional Benefits

Information about each of the following three benefits is listed in the Journals which members receive, as to where and to whom you should send your check if you are interested.

Gladys on DVD

For sale to members is a DVD of Gladys’ only recorded interview on TV. Although she was interviewed on radio stations, none were recorded to the best of our knowledge. The show was a 30-minute broadcast from Cape Cod, on a public access TV station. With the DVD there are 3 hard-to-find stories by Gladys Taber. This package costs $35 and postage is already included.

Stillmeadow in Color

Also for sale to members is a 20-page, semi-gloss, full-color booklet of the Stillmeadow floorplans, the grounds of the property, the neighborhood and downtown Southbury. Included are many color photos of the rooms, including the famous milk glass display, the dining table which Eleanor (“Jill” in the books) built, the kitchen and the Back kitchen, etc. This costs $25 and postage is already included.

Out-of-Print Books

As Gladys Taber’s books are out-of-print, we are happy to be able to sell some used copies to our members, as many want to fill out their collections. We compare our books to the same titles, and the same condition online and arrive at the bargain prices we offer to our members.
